Computer and Internet Security

AntiVirus - Make sure you have an AntiVirus Program and that it is running, updating daily, and protecting your system. Run a full virus scan weekly.

AntiSpyWare - Make sure you have an AntiSpyWare Program and that it is running, updating daily, and protecting your system. Run a full spyware scan weekly.

Firewall - Make sure you have a firewall and that it is always running.

Disk Clean - Just like your desk, a clean computer runs better. Run the Disk Cleanup program monthly.  You can find it under Start/Programs/Accessories/SystemTools/Disk Cleanup.

NOTE:  Check your Recycle Bin to verify you want to delete everything in it.
 
Defragment - An orderly computer runs better. Run the Disk Defragmenter program monthly. You can find it under Start/Programs/Accessories/SystemTools/Disk Defragmenter. This program will organize the data on your computer, making it run faster and more reliably.

Add/Remove Programs - You probably have some programs you never use. These programs occupy space and steal some of your computer's power. If know you will never use a program, and/or you have the original disks in case you want it in future, remove the program from your computer. You can do this in Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, where you will see a list of all programs on your computer.  Click on the program and press the remove button. 

NOTE: Uninstalled programs do not go to the Recycle Bin so be sure you don't want it before you remove.
